On 31 January 2019, in Belgrade, Evgeny Baranovsky, Chair of the Organising Committee of the World Forum of the Best Teachers, met with the leadership of the United Union of Education Workers of Serbia (Unija SPRS).

The Serbian delegation introduced Mr. Baranovsky to the union’s activities and provided insight into the current challenges faced by schoolteachers in Serbia.
Unija SPRS extended an official invitation to the Organising Committee to participate in the upcoming Pedagogical Conference for Teachers of the Balkan Region, scheduled for May 2019.
During the meeting, Evgeny Baranovsky presented the concept and goals of the World Forum of the Best Teachers, emphasising the forum’s openness to collaboration with professional unions and educational organisations from around the world.
As a result of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue cooperation. Unija SPRS will submit a list of key issues and discussion topics relevant to Serbian educators, along with supporting materials for forum participants.
The Organising Committee has already received from Unija SPRS a list of ten of the best schoolteachers in Serbia, selected to represent the country at the 2019 Global Forum.
